Chief Executive Officer
Rich Matta currently serves as CEO at ReputationDefender, responsible for product direction and development, sales and marketing.
Rich came to ReputationDefender from Support.com, a leading provider of cloud software and services for technology support, where he was a key member of the early founding team that grew the company to a $100M run rate by 2013. Most recently, Rich launched and led Support.com’s SaaS platform business and served as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Prior to running the SaaS business, Rich led product development as Vice President of Engineering.
Previously, Rich held multiple leadership and executive roles in product management and engineering at SupportSoft, culminating in the sale of the business to Consona Corporation (now part of Aptean) in 2009. After earning his degree in Economics with high honors from Pomona College, Rich spent a number of years with Deloitte Consulting, where he managed and delivered a series of technology projects in the US and Europe.
Chief Technology Officer
Tom Dignan currently leads ReputationDefender’s technology and fulfillment organizations. Tom previously led the engineering and research teams at our parent company Reputation.com, and has been with the company since 2009. Prior to coming to Reputation.com, Dignan served as Vice President of Engineering at Hands-on Mobile, where he managed a cross-functional international team responsible for building infrastructure and applications for mobile devices.
Dignan has also led engineering teams at Yahoo!, Earthlink and Excite@Home, and has proven expertise in architecting large-scale consumer Internet systems. A graduate of San Francisco State University, where he matriculated at the age of 15, Dignan received his PhD in high-energy physics from Harvard University and spent time at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center as a postdoctoral scholar.
Vice President, Consumer Sales
As ReputationDefender’s VP for Consumer Sales, Jeff Frankel oversees inside sales, outbound sales, and account management for the company’s consumer business and Special Projects team. Jeff brings almost 20 years of sales leadership to his role, including the planning and implementation of national and international sales strategies for several Fortune 500 companies and a track record of delivering double-digit year-over-year growth.
Prior to joining ReputationDefender, Jeff directed inside and field sales teams for a number of major tech companies, including CDW, Insight Enterprises, and EMC. His expertise ranges from organizational leadership and pipeline management to sales training and strategic planning, and he has managed sales divisions of over 100 people with revenues in excess of $800M. Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and is a graduate of the Executive Scholars Program at Kellogg School of Management.
Michael Fertik founded ReputationDefender with the belief that people and businesses have the right to control and protect their online reputations and privacy. He led the company with distinction as CEO for nearly a decade before transitioning to his current advisory role in August 2015.
As an ongoing member of the board, Michael continues to help guide the company and engage in strategic marketing and client development. He supports the ReputationDefender management team with his unique vision as a pioneer in the online reputation and Big Data/Big Analysis space, helping the company expand and grow in the enterprise and consumer markets.
A futurist, Michael is credited with pioneering the field of online reputation management (ORM) and lauded as the world’s leading cyberthinker in digital privacy and reputation.
Michael was named Entrepreneur of the Year by TechAmerica, an annual award given by the technology industry trade group to an individual they feel embodies the entrepreneurial spirit that made the U.S. technology sector a global leader.
He is a member of the World Economic Forum Agenda Council on the Future of the Internet, and a recipient of the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer 2011 Award. Through his leadership, the Forum named ReputationDefender a Global Growth Company in 2012.
Michael is an industry commentator with guest columns in Harvard Business Review, Reuters, Inc.com and Newsweek. Named a LinkedIn Influencer, he regularly blogs on current events as well as developments in entrepreneurship and technology. Michael is the co-author of two books, Wild West 2.0 (2010), and The New York Times bestseller, The Reputation Economy (2015).
He frequently appears on national and international television and radio, including the BBC, Good Morning America, Today Show, Dr. Phil, CBS Early Show, CNN, Fox, Bloomberg, and MSNBC.
Michael founded his first Internet company while at Harvard College. He received his JD from Harvard Law School.
